Vision, Mission, and Core Values

VISION

The Office of Student Life seeks to become a national example of excellence in student development programming and extra-curricular activities by supporting students to engage their classroom experiences and apply them to their daily lives.

MISSION

The Office of Student Life supports the mission of Stephen F. Austin State University in the direction of students to programs and services which ferries the building of students out-of-classroom experiences and constructs a community of learning in a complex and diverse world.

CORE VALUES

There are a number of core values that we espouse for the purpose of serving students and supporting the mission of our department and the university at large.

A focus on lifelong learning and the development of students who take a stake in their own personal growth.
Incorporating an inclusive university that supports diversity.
Conducting ourselves with a sense of ethical and personal responsibility to our students and the university.
Contributing to the campus atmosphere by offering programs and services that support student learning, enhance the campus culture and give students a sense of enjoyment and fulfillment.
To raise our programs to the highest quality of excellence by producing events that are above the accepted national status quo.
To implore a university that is civically engaged and takes responsibility for its social and community development.
To encourage a sense of service and volunteerism to the university and the community at large.
To develop a school spirit that is inclusive, positive and enthusiastic.
To maintain a knowledge base of the changing culture of higher education work and to have the courage to innovate to adapt to a changing higher education environment.
To develop programs with an understanding that student learning outcomes are paramount in their development and assessment.
To understand we are stewards of a tremendous amount of trust and resources and our stewardship of these resources with a fiscal responsibility.
The understanding we work on a university campus, with a unified mission, and our network should include collaborative programs with other interested parties.
