SFA Undergraduate Research Conference 2009!!
March 31, 2009 (Twilight and Grand Ballroom, 1:00pm - 4:00pm)
MISSION:
The Undergraduate Research Conference provides a public forum for recognizing and rewarding the most outstanding student scholarship completed at Stephen F. Austin State University in a given calendar year. The mission of the conference is to showcase the most rigorously innovative, creative, and comprehensive student projects completed across SFA’s six colleges and to provide a public audience to which students can present their research and creative works, as well as their methodologies for producing these works.
OBJECTIVES:
- Promote academic competition and interdisciplinary exchange
- Reward outstanding undergraduate scholarship and creativity: 6 winners (one for each college) receive a $250 cash award
- Raise parent and student awareness of scholarly excellence at SFA
- Aid in recruitment and retention (gives students high profile opportunities for one-on-one faculty contact and presentation of research and creative works)
- Celebrate student achievements & creativity
CONFERENCE FORMAT:
- Presentation of awards (checks and plaques to top scholars; certificates to finalists)
- Poster presentations (informal, audience talks to presenters)
- Break for refreshments (finger foods and drinks)
- Presentations by three of the SFA Research Scholars
- Break for refreshments (cookies and drinks)
- Presentations by the other three Research Scholars
- Closing remarks
