GRANDEUR AND VIRTUOSITY We welcome the 2008 Schmidbauer Competition winner, pianist Kwan Yi, in performing Liszt’s Second Piano Concerto. THE ELEPHANT MAN

TEXAS MODERNISTS:
The collection of Austinite Carl R. McQueary explores the development of the Modernist movement in Texas art and features artists such as Michael Frary, Donald Weismann and Ralph White. McQueary will speak about the exhibition at the opening on Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. |
CUTTING FINE: CUTTING DEEP
The silhouettes, dioramas, stencils, paper lacework and pop-up drawings included in this exhibition draw upon traditional papercutting techniques performed by five artists from the Swiss scherenschnitt (scissor cutting) tradition and six contemporary artists from North America. EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN:
Feast your eyes upon Marks' large-scale "sewn drawings" created intuitively as she fuses patterned scraps of fabric to large cloth backgrounds and then uses an industrial sewing machine to "draw" and meld the variously patterned parts into a compelling narrative.
