Welcome to SFA Counseling Services
Counseling Services are provided to assist students in achieving educational and personal goals that contribute to their development.
Location
We are located on the 3rd floor of the Rusk Building. The Rusk Building is located directly across the patio from the Baker Pattillo Student Center. Click here for a map.
How to Contact us
You can visit the Counseling Counter on the 3rd floor of the Rusk Building or call extension 2401 from a campus phone. If you are not calling from campus our number is: (936) 468-2401.

Hours of operation
Licensed Counselors are available from 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. Monday-Friday. Our department is closed on certain holidays, Spring Break and Winter Break when the university is closed.

If you are in need of assistance after hours or on the weekend please call: University Police: (936)468-2608 or MHMR Crisis Line: (800)392-8343. If the situation is life threatening please dial 911.

Counseling Services ascribes to the ethical standards of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA, College Student Educators International) as stated in the Statement of Ethical Principles and Standards [http://www.myacpa.org/ethics/statement.cfm]. We also follow the ethical guidelines of Texas Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors (Licensed Professional Counselors) [http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/counselor/lpc_ethics.shtm] and American Counseling Association (ACA) which includes Texas Counseling Association (TCA) and American College Counseling Association (ACCA) [http://www.counseling.org/Resources/CodeOfEthics/TP/Home/CT2.aspx]
